This is my entry for Nancy Merrill’s photo challenge – light. It was taken in St. Maarten the summer before the hurricane came and totally destroyed this little piece of paradise.
I live in the small town of Haddonfield, NJ. I am at an age in my life when I seem to spend time thinking and musing about life. These musings are usually stimulated by my walks through Haddonfield, my reading of books and fellow bloggers, and my interaction with my group of fabulous family and friends.
The island has barely gotten back on its feet. The French side lost just about all their restaurants and condos. The new airport is unusable. Apparently they have set up a tent for customs. The Dutch side seems to have fared a little better. Dom and I would rent a condo on the French side every year and just go and refill our hearts and souls. We miss it tremendously.
I have been focused on Puerto Rico since we have so many refugees in Hartford, including some housed at our church. I missed knowing this. It grieves me.
Beautiful photo Bernadette. So fragile is the beauty we build compared to the force
of nature.

I loved St. Maarten. I guess I missed that it had been destroyed. How is it today?

Looking at this photo you can just feel the vibe of being there.. What a shame Mother Nature was not very kind.

Cool picture, Bernadette. It’s sad to know this place was wrecked by a hurricane.
